Vehicle safety: a global approach
PSA Peugeot Citroën makes safety for drivers and other road users a top priority. Every year, the Group researches technological solutions to prevent accidents and reduce their impact. The Group spends more than 10% of its annual R&D budget on safety.
To achieve top results in driver and road safety, the Group's research studies factor in not only vehicle and driver behaviour, but also the road environment (infrastructure, weather conditions, communications networks, etc.).
PSA Peugeot Citroën works on the three complementary phases of safety:
- Avoiding accidents, or primary safety.
- Protecting occupants and other road users in the event of an accident, or secondary safety.
- Alerting emergency services, and providing protection and assistance after an accident, or tertiary safety.
The Group also organises numerous education and training actions to inform drivers about their vehicles' capacities and to raise awareness of good driving practices, both outside the company and among Group employees.
