Organization: Peugeot and Talbot merge, with marketing of the two ranges to be handled by Peugeot through a single dealership network. A joint department is created to manage purchasing for Peugeot, Talbot and Citroën.

Manufacturing: Construction begins on the Valenciennes plant, which will produce gearboxes for both marques. The Brussels-Forest plant in Belgium closes after turning out more than 100,000 Citroëns and the Rennes plant in France, specialized in rubber and plastic parts, starts supplying the three marques.

Innovation: Citroën unveils the Karin concept car, a trapezoidal sports coupe with three staggered seats.

Retirement: of the Peugeot 304, launched in 1969, after production of nearly 1.2 million units.

Launches: of the Peugeot 305 station wagon and 505 turbo and the Talbot Solara.
