| The tests were made as part of the more stringent 2009 EuroNCAP protocol, known as "global rating". This rating groups all the scores obtained on the criteria of adult, child and pedestrian protection, while factoring in assistance systems (seatbelt warnings, speed limiter, ESP). Following in the footsteps of the 3008, Peugeot’s compact crossover, the 5008 also scored five stars in the new test. |

| EuroNCAP rounds out existing European regulation in terms of impact with more stringent standards. EU regulation suffices for homologating vehicles for sale in Europe, while EuroNCAP is the consumer benchmark. Old and new EuroNCAP rating systems coexist. The first Group vehicle tested with the new system is the C3 Picasso, which obtained 4 stars according to 2009 criteria. |
