PSA Peugeot Citroën confirmed its environmental leadership in 2008. For the third year in a row, the Group sold more than one million vehicles emitting less than 140 g/km CO2 worldwide (1,161,000 units). The worldwide sales of vehicles emitting less than 130 g/km CO2 rose by 7,4% to 921,000 units.

Following an initial document audit phase in November and a 3-day on-site audit in December 2007, the certification body SGS decided that the Environmental Management System (EMS) put in place by the Trnava industrial site in Slovakia was compliant with the ISO 14001 standard.

The Group started operating a heat recovery system at the Sept Fons foundry on 21 March. Developed with the French utility, Electricité de France (EDF), this system helps reduce the site’s annual gas consumption by 20% to 25%.
