PSA Peugeot Citroën obtains Diversity Label
AFNOR Certification, the French standardisation organisation, has awarded PSA Peugeot Citroën with the new Label Diversité, recently created by the government. The Group is one of the first companies to obtain this distinction.
The objective of the Label Diversité is to foster good HR practices on equal opportunities and anti-discrimination with a view to developing diversity in companies.
The label was awarded following a demanding certification process. In October 2008, all of the Group’s HR procedures were audited from the perspective of diversity at corporate HR and verified in the field at six sites chosen by AFNOR: Poissy Industrial, Trémery, Sochaux, Vélizy, Poissy Services, and Grande-Armée.
This label rewards the Group’s policy on equal opportunities, implemented in 2003 following the signature with all the trade unions of an agreement on professional equality between men and women. This was followed in 2004 by an agreement on diversity and social cohesion.
The measures implemented over the last five years have proved highly effective. For example, between 2005 and 2008, out of 2,743 executives and administrative and supervisory employees recruited with open-ended contracts at French industrial sites, 24% were women, 6% foreign nationals, 9% from a "visible minority", and 33% originated from towns with "Sensitive Urban Areas". Indicators also show that salary increases and promotions are proportional to the representativeness of each staff category. For example, foreign national employees, who account for 13.3% of the multi-skilled workers at BPUs, benefitted from 13.4% of the salary increases/promotions budget in 2008.
The agreement on diversity and social cohesion was renegotiated and signed on 6 October 2008 with all the Group's trade unions.
PSA Peugeot Citroën was also the first French company to obtain, in 2005, the Gender Equality Label.
