Chaired by Philippe Varin, Chairman of PSA Peugeot Citroën, the PSA Peugeot Citroën Corporate Foundation 'A World on the Move' has released a review of its activities during its first year in operation.

Over the period, the Foundation has set up 108 programmes to support mobility-related projects, donating the equivalent of €2.7 million to enable associations to deploy their initiatives.

In particular, the Foundation has chosen to focus on four key areas of support:
 
-    Community mobility projects, with initiatives to help bring people into the workforce or provide emergency outreach, which account for 55% of the Foundation"s donations.
The Foundation took over and expanded the support provided to the Paris emergency social services agency (Samusocial). It has also developed several initiatives in favour of regional mobility platforms (low-cost car hire, driving schools for the disadvantaged, etc.), which are helping to alleviate the lack of mobility that keeps many from finding a job.

-    Educational and cultural actions, which represent 22% of donations. The foundation has enabled the deployment and development of a large number of innovative initiatives, such as the Musée Mobile, a travelling exhibit of contemporary artwork for primary school children in France and Africa, and the Circuler exhibition at the Cité du Patrimoine et de l"Architecture in Paris" Palais Chaillot.

-    Programmes for the disabled, which account for 17% of donations. Most of these initiatives are part of employee-sponsored projects, such as the Fundacion Sindrome de West or the Fundacion Bobath projects in Spain or the Comme les Autres association"s programme to organise leisure holidays for the disabled.

-    Environmental protection initiatives, which account for 6% of donations and concern such areas as carpooling, roadside and riverbank clean-up programmes or a project in China to raise schoolchildren"s awareness of clean, sustainable mobility.

Most of these initiatives are based near the Group"s production plants or offices, with 20% being deployed outside France, primarily in Spain, Portugal, Slovakia, Argentina, China, Russia and Africa.


The Foundation"s launch was also an opportunity for employees to get actively involved in generous outreach initiatives, with more than 50% of the selected projects spontaneously sponsored by employees. A website and Facebook page enables this community to keep up with the latest news.

In coming months, the Foundation plans to further extend its action by forming several broad-based, multi-year partnerships with leading associations like the Red Cross, the A.N.D.E.S. network of 'social and solidarity' grocery stores and the Action Against Hunger (ACF) NGO.

Hugues Dufour, Managing Director of the PSA Peugeot Citroën Foundation, said: "Through these actions, we can measure every day the crucial importance of mobility for everyone. The absence of means of transportation is a key factor in the marginalization process, in terms of employment, culture, health or education". "The needs in terms of mobility are huge and the Foundation has naturally found a real role alongside the various actors working in this area."

The PSA Peugeot Citroën Foundation supports social, educational, cultural and environmental projects in the field of mobility, an area in which the Group has been active for more than 100 years. As expressed in its "A World on the Move" baseline, the Foundation helps to develop projects implemented by associations or international NGOs. Operating globally, it relies in particular on Group facilities in each host community to tailor its initiatives to local needs and practices. It is actively deploying a five-year action plan backed by a €10 million budget.
