PSA Peugeot Citroën today announced that a production module dedicated to the next generation of B‑segment light commercial vehicles will be assigned to the Mangualde plant in Portugal in 2018, in addition to the modules already planned for Vigo, Spain.

To drive faster improvement in competitiveness and smoothly integrate the new platform, the Mangualde plant is currently undergoing a transformation as part of the Group's "Excellent Plant" programme. The project will also help to foster the involvement of new local suppliers.

Commenting on the announcement, Yann Vincent, Executive Vice President Supply Chain & Manufacturing, said: "Thanks to the efforts and discipline of the employees at Mangualde, who have successfully met the Group's business requirements, I'm pleased to announce today that the module has been assigned to this location. The additional volumes will enable the plant to move towards our objective of achieving 115% capacity utilisation by 2022, as set out in our Back in the Race plan.”
