Backed by more than 200 years of manufacturing history, PSA Peugeot Citroën has proven expertise in all areas of automobile manufacturing, from the drawing board to the production line to the showroom. This expertise is nurtured by three essential qualities for a major carmaker: a high level of innovation, extensive know-how and a continuous commitment to excellence.

Designing the automobiles and mobility solutions of tomorrow

Each year, PSA Peugeot Citroën devotes more than 5% of its Automotive Division sales and revenue to R&D. In 2011, the Group filed 1,237 patents, the largest number by a single filer in France for the fifth year in a row. R&D sets the foundation for our technological leadership in the years ahead, allowing us to respond to consumers' mobility needs while reducing the automobile industry's environmental impact.

Our five European research centres and our R&D facilities in Saõ Paulo, Brazil and Shanghai, China, are all focused on devising local solutions to meet each region's needs and expectations.

PSA Peugeot Citroën has 16 production facilities and 15 mechanical components plants and foundries worldwide. Since 2009, we have deployed our PSA Excellence system in all these units to instil lean manufacturing and management principles and a culture of continuous improvement across our production base. This method lifts operating performance to the highest level so that we can meet exacting quality requirements. The quest for excellence is also an integral part of our relations with suppliers and manufacturing partners, including BMW, Ford, Mitsubishi, Toyota, Fiat and Dongfeng and Chang'an in China.

A close-knit sales network

Sales, customer care and services play a central role in building a lasting relationship with our customers. The quality of this relationship is a critical component in our performance and in the image of our two brands. PSA Peugeot Citroën has 10,000 sales outlets and/or approved repair shops around the world, of which 430 belong to the group and form Peugeot Citroën Retail.
